A Florist’s 30th: Styling My Own Birthday at Public Bar Manuka

As a Canberra wedding and event florist, I spend most of my time creating floral magic for others, however recently, I had the chance to turn the tables and design something just for me. To celebrate my 30th birthday, I hosted an intimate dinner in the private event space at Public Bar Manuka, and naturally, I couldn’t resist going all out with the styling.

The tablescape was a true centrepiece. I styled it with en masse stems of dark purple calla lilies — dramatic, sculptural and elegant — paired with an unexpected mix of purple fruit and vegetables. Think purple cauliflower, beetroot, grapes, garlic, and more, clustered together to add richness, depth and texture.

To give the table a modern edge, I added chrome vessels for shine, and scattered pearls throughout for a hint of softness and luxury. The overall look was bold, moody and contemporary,  exactly the vibe I wanted.

The private event space at Public Manuka was the perfect setting. It’s intimate and stylish, with just the right balance of atmosphere and flexibility for creative event styling. As a Canberra florist, I’m always looking for local venues that allow florals and styling details to really shine, and this one absolutely delivered.
